NEWPORT NEWS , Va. (WAVY) - Newport News fire crews battled a fire at the city's golf course Sunday morning.
Firefighters received the call for the fire around 5:50 a.m. after park rangers opened the park and discovered the golf course's pavilion on fire.
A fire department spokesman told WAVY.com that the building, which is used as a banquet facility, suffered significant damage.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Due to instability of the structure, portions of it will have to be pulled down for the safety of fire investigators.
